Banana and Pumpkin Treats
Don't worry, bananas are dog-friendly! In fact, some veterinarians recommend them as a healthy alternative to fatty, salty treats and these are sure to be your pup's new post-walk favorites.
- 1 very ripe banana
- ½ can of pumpkin purée
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 ½ whole wheat flour
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
Preheat oven to 350º. In a large bowl mix banana, pumpkin, and honey. Add flour and baking powder into the mixture, which should be a dry dough. Roll out in a little flour, cut out shapes, and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper for 10-12 minutes.
Perfect Pumpkin Popovers
These treats can be made with coconut or potato flour for a healthy, gluten-free twist! Here's what you'll need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 egg
- ½ cup pure 100% pumpkin
- 1 4-ounce jar pure carrot baby food
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine all ingredients together in a large bowl and mix until fully incorporated. If dough seems wet add a bit more flour and if it's crumbly add a touch of water. Scoop spoonfuls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Feeling extra festive? Grab some green bean baby food while you're at the store and add to the dough as a pumpkin stem! Bake for 30-45 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Making healthy treats like these are a great way to keep your pup in shape as winter approaches and throughout the entire year!
